I can see "Dexter Lab", "LS-3252", "RVM-2511-100", Expo4216" on material combo box of Immersion medium.

1. What kind of material? I did not search such name on website.

1. I have no references at hand. I have found following paper on RVM 2511 and Expo4216 properties (attached). I do not know how it corresponds to default data in RATRO module. Do not mind this point. Manufactures always know the refractive index of their particular encapsulation.


2. Absortion index as a default:1E4.
Can you inform me if you set-up absortion index(1E4) in QW? Korea Univ. thinks the value is very high.
Do you have any paper tha can help user with setting up the value?


2. Please explain that absorption in the active region is assumed to be because of band-to-band absorption (reverse to radiative recombination). So the thickness is the thickness of narrow-gap material only, but the absorption index is very high. Exact value of QW absorption to be computed within a quantum-mechanical approach and resulting value depends on many fine details and will change even with injection level. Default value of 1e4 indicates just an order of magnitude. Please find attached an equation with simple estimation of absorptiion due to single pair of electron\hole energy levels.

Anyway, I recommend to consider the absorption index of the active region as a fitting parameter. One need set up some reasonable guess, run RATRO simulations, and check the total fraction of light absorbed in the active region. It it is negligible, one need not worry about this absorption. It is is considerable, one need to think how to estimate the absorption for the particular structure. Computation of the energy levels by SiLENSe may help here.
